The New Year Begins

We waved good bye to 2010 and filed our happy memories for reflection.   We are thankful that we have reached yet another new year. A year that promises many happy times and peaceful moments.  Let the new year begin!

Harry and I have no set plans for the new year.  For the most part, we'll just play the year as it comes.  We do have a short trip planned to Nashville, TN, in mid January so there is that to think about.  It's been two years since we had a real vacation.  We've been attending to health issues here at home.  I hope we can have a real vacation soon.  Where??  No plans except that I'd still love to do the trip to Biltmore House and the slow leisurely drive up the east coast.   Time will tell if we can do that.  We're also hoping that our out-of-town kids can visit this year.  Fingers crossed for that to happen.

We're having a cloudy rainy New Year Day.  The temps are predicted to dip to freezing early this evening.  The weather gurus aren't predicting ice and I hope they are correct.  Snow - in small doses - is OK but ice is certainly not a welcome event.

As you can probably see, nothing exciting is happening here.  Just two old farts feeling thankful, enjoying being together this first day of 2011, and looking forward to the new year.

Thanks for stopping by.  Visit again when you can.  Our best to everyone.

Happy New Year Mary & Harry! I think most of all I am just so very glad you are healthy and here with us after all you went thru last year! Funny, isn't it, that the best times in our lives now are just the quiet moments and evenings spent together with the one we love. Doesn't sound very exciting to the young folks, but to me, and I know to you too, it is Heaven! I wish you continued health and definitely some fun travel adventures in the coming year. I've returned home to blogging and hope to see you stopping by soon!

Hello, there. Glad to see that you stopped by. Thanks for complimenting the picture. That is my Maxima clam. It resides in my 120 gallon reef tank. Harry's hobby has grown on me.

I'll certainly stop by. Again very glad to hear from you.

"It's been two years since we had a real vacation."

Well, how soon they forget! Can't even remember back to Labor Day in Orlando. I'm going to try to post some links here. See if it looks like she is on vacation, at work, or on a business trip.

OOPS!! Guess I hit a nerve. I stand corrected. We did travel a day early so we could do some fun stuff while we were in Orlando for the big reefer's conference. I was thinking of vacation as something unique of business. Sorry, Harry.

The travel sounds like fun. We went to Nashville this past June and loved it. Stayed in a great B & B in Franklin. Lots of history to take in around that area.

That drive up the east coast sounds wonderful. How far north do you want to go and where do you want to start. St. Augustine is a good place to start and Bar Harbor, ME is a beautiful place to end. Lots and lots of places between the two points. In fact, that trip could take weeks.

Happy New Year.

Your New Year's sounds like mine. At home, comfy and relaxed. We older folks know what we're doing!

Your clam is amazing. My brother got rid of his reef tanks. I miss them. I guess he got tired of the work. New hobbies replace the old sometimes.

I've always wanted to go to Biltmore. One of these days.

Happy New Year!
